Dichroscope

Dichroscope
A dichroscope is one of the simplest yet most revealing instruments in a gemologist's toolbox, and this model is built for regular use. It allows you to see pleochroism-different colours or shades seen in different crystal directions-side by side, which can quickly separate certain species and highlight misidentified stones.

Our dichroscope is lightweight, durable, and easy to handle over a stone held in tweezers or a clamp. The optic is clean and well-aligned, giving you crisp, distinct colour windows rather than fuzzy images. It works particularly well on strongly pleochroic gems such as tourmaline and sapphire, and sits comfortably alongside your loupe, spectroscope, and polariscope in a compact testing kit.
